Mechanistic modeling and parameter-adaptive nonlinear model predictive control of a microbioreactor

Microbioreactors are a promising technology to accelerate biologic drug development. In aerobic cellular respiration, potential limit the productivity of such systems is transport oxygen from an external gas most oxygen-deficient cells, and for excessive spatially localized dissolved which can result in damage. This article analytically solves mechanistic model spatiotemporal through gas-permeable membrane cells within microbioreactor. An analytical solution partial differential equations derived using finite Fourier transform method. A parameter-adaptive extended Kalman filter shown produce highly accurate estimates uptake rate with some fluctuation specific cell growth rate. The fed predictive control formulation that improves spatial during by more than 30% compared PID controller.
